Abstract: The purpose of this study was to provide a product that targets the issue brought by the usage of plastic and paper bags, using Coconut (Cocos Nucifera) Husk and Papain to produce a waterproof paper bag. The study has three problems that the researchers focused on answering, problems such as knowing the performance level of the product using water resistance and load strength test. Identifying what kind of characteristics the product meets based on a standard paper bag’s characteristics like color, stiffness, and texture, and lastly, identifying which formulation of the paper bag will perform the best on the waterproof and durability test. This study uses an experimental research design because it allows for direct observation and manipulation of the variables. The researchers use a checklist and questionnaire to gather the needed data. The results show that the paper bag made from Coconut (Cocos Nucifera) husk and Papain are capable of holding products from 0.5 kilograms up to 2 kilograms but don’t succeed to achieved waterproofness ability, rather it is water-resistant because even though there is water that penetrates the outside of the paper bag, it can resist the penetration inside leaving it dry.

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the potential of corn husk as insulation foam for common residential roofs. The researchers conducted the research to explore the possibility of using corn husk fiber as a material to create insulation foam for common residential roofs. The specific objectives of the research may have included evaluating the feasibility, performance, and potential benefits of corn husk insulation foam as a material. The researchers may have been motivated by factors such as the need for sustainable and eco-friendly insulation options, the abundance of corn husk waste as a potential resource, and the desire to contribute to the development of innovative and efficient roofing insulation solutions. The research seeks to determine the performance, response, and appropriate ratios necessary to determine the potential of corn husk insulation foam. This study assessed the performance of the corn husk insulation foam through thermal and flammability tests to determine whether the insulation foam has the ability to resist heat transfer coming from direct sunlight. On the other hand, the flammability test exposes the foam to a flame or high temperature and assesses its resistance to catching fire. This study also evaluates the best proportion of Corn husk with polyurethane foam to create an ecofriendly insulation foam. The researchers collected data primarily through a checklist and questionnaire, by utilizing these data collection methods, the researchers aimed to obtain structured and quantitative data that could be analyzed and interpreted to draw meaningful conclusions related to the topic and objectives of this study. The researchers processed the corn husk into an insulation foam by mixing the variable with Polyurethane Liquid Foam and molding it with a DIY molder. This study concluded that corn husk insulation foam may be viable to use as an insulation since it exhibits similarities to other insulation. Overall, this study highlights the potential of Corn Husk as an Insulation Foam for Common Residential House Roof and the importance of finding sustainable solutions to reduce thermal problems.

Abstract: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of snake plants as a main alternative component of paper. Snake plants in paper production are a source of fiber. The leaves of snake plants are long and fibrous, which makes them a potential candidate for pulping and processing into paper. Moreover, the researchers hypothesized that the alternative component for paper was considered as a success in proving the effectiveness of it and it satisfied the expectation of the researchers regarding the product. The researchers aim to give a solution to the increasing problem of deforestation by making an alternative ingredient for woods. The research design that was utilized was a purely experimental design. In addition, the data gathering procedure used in the study is observation, specifically checklist, to evaluate the performance of the paper. The result of the study provided an explanation on how effective snake plants can be to be a paper. The researchers give some purposes about Snake plants that have distinctive patterns and colors on their leaves, which could be used as a natural dye for paper or other textiles. Overall, gathering of data is done with the use of getting the weighted mean of the given physical characteristics. Based on the results, snake plants are a suitable main ingredient to make paper.
