Abstract: This research has studied the effects of different silica amounts on the growth rates (leaf length, bulb size, and the number of leaves) of red creole onions (Allium cepa L.) under a closedhydroponic system, Kratky Method, due to its practicality. The experimental research design was adapted with observation as the primary research instrument. Consequently, the experiment lasted for 30 days in an uncontrolled environment; thus, the pH levels and weather temperature are recorded which showed that the onions persisted unideal growing environment. The collected data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA to identify statistically significant differences between the different silica amounts. The graphs, means, and statistics of the data allowed this study to identify and conclude that an amount of 1 ml/L of silica in a nutrient solution is the most suitable for red creole onion hydroponics. The growth rates of onions were consistently observed best in the hydroponics with 1 ml/L of silica.

Abstract: The main objective of this study entitled “Comparative Study of Commercial Hairspray and SOE Hairspray for Human Hair” was to determine the difference between SOE hairspray and commercial hairspray. As a result, the approach used in this study was comparative and an experimental method as the researchers have assessed two different variables which are the SOE hairspray and commercial hairspray. The SOE hairspray contains sampaguita oil extract which has its natural fragrance and many other advantages to the human hair compared to the commercial hairspray which is often used by the consumers. The SOE hairspray was made by the researchers and was sprayed on straight human hair extensions. Furthermore, the researchers used drying time test, initial hold test, litmus paper test, and spreadability test to measure the performance of the two variables. Subsequently, all data from the questionnaire were statistically analyzed using weighted mean, frequency, standard deviation, standard error, and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results showed based on the physical characteristics of hairspray, the SOE hairspray was more flexible and luster than the commercial hairspray. While in terms of lubricity, both hairsprays showed the same level of lubricity. On the other hand, performance-wise, SOE hairspray wasn’t able to pass the drying time test on petri dish, longer drying time on human hair, shorter initial hold, and low spreadability than commercial hairspray due to shellac's strong intermolecular force, but showed better pH.
